Imran’s roar, this time PTI government, Pak’s ‘new PM’ has surprising connection with India

Almost a week has passed since the elections held in Pakistan on 8th February. But claims are being made continuously regarding the formation of a new government. The complete situation is not yet clear. Nawaz Sharif’s PMLN and jailed Imran Khan’s party PTI seem to be trying hard to capture power. Nawaz Sharif’s party seems confident of forming the government in Pakistan and making Shahbaz Sharif the next Prime Minister. There itself Bilawal Bhutto’s party set the condition of making Asif Ali Zardari the President and making either Yusuf Raza Gilani or Khurshid Shah Ahmed the Speaker of the National Assembly.

Jailed Imran Khan’s party PTI has also intensified its efforts to form the government. PTI has also made Ayub Khan its prime ministerial candidate. However, despite independent candidates winning 101 National Assembly seats, the government can only be formed by a recognized party or a coalition of parties, so they will have to join another group to become an effective block.

Who is Omar Ayub?

Born on 26 January 1970, Omar Ayub belongs to the famous Ayub Khan family, his grandfather General Muhammad Ayub Khan was the second President of Pakistan. His father, Gohar Ayub Khan, also had a significant political career, serving as a member of the National Assembly and holding various ministerial positions. Omar Ayub received his education from prestigious institutions both in Pakistan and abroad. He completed his early education in Pakistan and later pursued higher education abroad. Joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, which was founded by former cricketer turned politician Imran Khan, who later became the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Over the years, Omar Ayub Khan has held several important positions within PTI and the government. He has held various ministerial positions including Minister of Economic Affairs, Minister of Energy and Minister of Petroleum.

What is the connection with India?

Omar is the grandson of Field Marshal Ayub Khan who waged war against India in 1965. Omar Ayub Khan served in Pakistan Muslim League Noon from 2002 to 2018. In 2018, he joined Imran Khan’s party PTI.
