India-China should find a way for peaceful and friendly coexistence: Chinese Foreign Minister

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Xi Jinping discussed bilateral relations between India and China. Jaishankar told his Chinese counterpart about the importance of resolving the eastern Ladakh border dispute and ensuring peace and tranquility in the border areas for the development of bilateral relations.
China and India should find a way for peaceful and friendly coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Kang, who is in Goa to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) foreign ministers’ meeting, said on Thursday. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Xi Jinping discussed bilateral relations between India and China. Jaishankar told his Chinese counterpart about the importance of resolving the eastern Ladakh border dispute and ensuring peace and tranquility in the border areas for the development of bilateral relations.
The meeting took place at a coastal resort on the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Chin also met relatives of Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis, an Indian doctor who served in China during the Chinese Communist Revolution led by Mao Tse-tung and World War II. A press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs here informed that the minister also met youth representatives from China and India. Without referring to the ongoing military standoff in eastern Ladakh since May 2020, Chin said that the two countries should find a way for peaceful and friendly coexistence.
In a tweet, Jaishankar said the focus was on resolving outstanding issues and ensuring peace and tranquility in the border areas. He said, “There was a detailed discussion on bilateral relations with the State Councilor and Foreign Minister of China, Chin Kang. The focus was on resolving pending issues and ensuring peace and tranquility in the border areas. This is the second meeting between Jaishankar and Kang in the last two months. The Chinese Foreign Minister had come to participate in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in the month of March. India hosted the SCO Defense Ministerial meeting last week. India, Russia, China and other member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) discussed regional security challenges and related issues at a meeting organized by New Delhi on Friday.
