United Nations :India slammed Pakistan for mentioning Jammu and Kashmir in the UN General Assembly session on Ukraine. India termed Pakistan’s provocation as “regrettable” and “misplaced” and accused Pakistan of providing safe havens to terrorists. Referring to the previous record of
Prateek Mathur, Counselor in India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, said, “I want to say on this platform today that India this time chooses not to respond to Pakistan’s evil provocation. We advise the representative of Pakistan to refer to the many replies given by us in the past under the ‘right of reply’.
Mathur on Thursday exercised the ‘right of reply’ after Pakistan’s UN envoy Munir Akram referred to Jammu and Kashmir while speaking during the UN General Assembly vote on Ukraine during an emergency special session. Mathur said, “Pakistan should look into its own backyard which has a past record of harboring terrorists and does so with impunity. After two days of intense talks, we all have agreed that the conflict situation can be resolved only by following the path of peace. So it was done at the wrong time.
