Modi also mentioned plans of French companies to develop helicopter engines, produce spare parts and set up MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) facilities in India. The Defense Ministry on Thursday approved proposals to buy 26 naval variants of Rafale jets from France and three French-designed Scorpene class submarines. China has adopted an aggressive stance in the Indo-Pacific region. “As resident powers of the Indo-Pacific, India and France have a special responsibility to maintain peace and stability in the region,” he said.

Modi said that COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine have affected the whole world and have particularly negatively affected the countries of the ‘Global South’. He said, “It is a matter of concern. It is necessary for countries to make united efforts to find solutions to such problems. We believe that all disputes can be resolved only through dialogue and diplomacy.
