Indian intelligence agencies are already in touch with Omani authorities to take Naik into custody during his visit to Oman on March 23. Naik has been invited to deliver two lectures in Oman. His first lecture “Quran a Global Necessity” has been organized by Oman’s Ministry of Health and Religious Affairs and is scheduled for the first day of Ramadan-23rd March. The second lecture “Prophet Muhammad A Mercy to Humankind” is scheduled for the evening of March 25 at Sultan Qaboos University.
Please inform that the Government of Oman has been told by India not to allow Zakir Naik to visit the country. An extradition request against him is still pending with the Malaysian government. The local Indian Embassy is in touch with agencies to detain and eventually deport him under local laws. Sources in Indian intelligence agencies said that there was a strong possibility that the local authorities would oblige to his request and detain him.
Indian agencies are likely to send a legal team for follow-up after the detention. The matter was taken up by the Ministry of External Affairs with the Omani Ambassador. The Government of India has been after Zakir Naik for a long time. Even before Zakir was booked for sedition in India and Red Corner notice was issued, he left the country and fled to Malaysia and started living in a VIP area with government offices and residential buildings.
