Work on new missile started
He also informed that the work on the next generation missile of BrahMos has also started. It will be a smaller missile than the present missile but will be similar in operations. Its size has been kept small so that two missiles can fit in the same aircraft. Its flight trials will happen in late 2024 and production will happen in late 2025 or early 2026. This missile has been named BrahMos NG.

Will India be banned
Rane was asked whether India could be banned because of its ties with Russia? To this he replied, ‘If India has not done anything wrong, then whatever India is doing for itself, sanctions will be imposed on it, it is not going to happen.’ He said that India is taking necessary steps only for its own defence. Rane said the chances of India getting sanctions for working with Russia are slim.

Rane was also asked in this interview that what is the future of India’s defense partnership with Russia and other countries? On this, he said that whatever is happening will certainly involve India and Russia. Earlier and still both the countries are working together on many technologies and BrahMos is the best example of that. This missile has been made with very advanced technology. Russia is ready to work with India on many such technologies.
