The parade was organized in memory of civil rights advocate Martin Luther King Jr. Charles Stamp, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the MLK Junior Parade Foundation, on Sunday presented Vavilala with a trophy and a plaque as part of the award. Stamp admired Vavilala and his dedication to spreading the message of both Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., who shared the same vision and followed the same path, despite being from different continents .
