Juneau, 30 September (Hindustan Reporter). When the armies of India and America entered the battlefield together in the American state of Alaska, joint strategic analysis and warfare skills were visible. The two armies exercised together during the joint exercise between India and America that lasted till October 8. The aim of this exercise is to enhance the strength of both the armies and strengthen their relationship.
A contingent of 350 soldiers of the Indian Army is participating in the 19th edition of the annual war exercise between the US and India. The Maratha Light Infantry Regiment of India and 1-24 Infantry Battalion of the First Brigade Combat Team from the US side have kept the theme of this joint exercise as ‘Deployment of Joint Military Group in Mountain and Extreme Weather Conditions’. During this, the best practices and approaches of military drills of both the countries will be put before each other. Military skills, combat engineering, clearing obstacles during combat operations and methods of combating Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) will also be shared.
Both sides will practice a series of tactical drills. This will help in co-deployment of both in UN peacekeeping operations. After the exercise there will be academy discussions on selected topics. There will also be detailed discussions among ourselves about our experiences and best working practices. Experts believe that this ground maneuver will help in testing the performance of a mixed force at the brigade level in front of the enemy army. With this, the joint monitoring system at the brigade and battalion level will be examined. Apart from this, during the exercise, the capabilities of landing troops in military operations using helicopters or planes and increasing military strength will be tested. Logistics requirements during military operations at high altitude and extreme weather conditions, management of soldier casualties, rescue operations, delivery of medical aid during war and other aspects will also be examined.
