Singapore (Best Hindu News): A 33-year-old Indian worker died after being hit by a vehicle at a workplace in Singapore. According to The Straits Times report, he was a driver at BSN Tech Engineering and was working at the site of Star Ready-Mix in Jurong West. According to the Ministry of Manpower (MoM), he was preparing a tipper truck for unloading when it was hit by a reversing wheel loader.
The Singapore Civil Defense Force said a paramedic pronounced him dead at the scene. MOM said it is probing the matter and has directed Star Ready-Mix to stop operating all vehicles there. “As a general safety measure, employers should implement an appropriate traffic management plan to minimize the risk from vehicles,” the MOM said.
The incident comes just after another workplace death of a 20-year-old Indian national who was crushed to death by a collapsing part of a building in Singapore. His body was pulled out of the debris last month after a rescue operation that lasted for over six hours. Significantly, there have been 14 workplace deaths in Singapore this year. In 2022, 46 deaths were recorded. Earlier in 2016, the maximum number of 66 people died.
