According to reports, Singh inflicted wounds on Kaur’s neck, but not deep enough to kill her. He was later buried alive in a shallow grave in the remote Flinders Ranges in the state of South Australia. Horrific details of the incident came to the fore during the sentencing in the Supreme Court. Prosecutor Carmen Mateo said the killing was not effective and that Kaur had suffered complete terror. Mateo said that his pain can be understood by the fact that when he was burying her in the soil, the soil would be going into his throat and at that time he would be having a lot of difficulty in breathing. Kaur’s parents were also present in the court to hear the sentencing arguments.
