The Indian junior women’s hockey team registered an emphatic 8-0 win over hosts South Africa in the second match of the tour. The visitors started well in the first quarter and showed discipline in their attack. The team scored the first goal in the very first minute thanks to Anu. At the end of the second quarter, the Indian junior women’s team scored two more goals through Deepika in the 29th minute and another in the 30th minute. In the fourth quarter, Anu scored in the 54th minute and Deepika Sr. scored in the 59th minute. Earlier in the week, India kicked off their campaign with a thumping 8-1 win. The tour to South Africa is part of the team’s preparations for the Under-21 Asia Cup, a qualification tournament for the upcoming FIH Women’s Hockey Junior World Cup. The team will now play their next match on Monday after which they will face South Africa ‘A’ team on February 24 and 25.
