New Delhi (Best Hindu News): India has once again given a befitting reply to China and Pakistan by clarifying its stand regarding the Union Territories of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh in the United Nations. On Wednesday, India reiterated its stand that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were, are and will remain an integral part of India. Addressing the ‘UNGA Plenary: Use of the Veto’, he said that no matter how much misinformation, rhetoric and propaganda any country does, it cannot deny this fact.
Counselor Prateek Mathur said that a year has passed since UNGO’s ‘Veto Initiative’ was adopted. He noted that the UNGA had unanimously agreed in 2008 that all five aspects of UNSC reform, including the veto, would be decided in a comprehensive manner.
Expressing his support for reforming the UNSC, he said India’s position on the veto is clear. Explain that India and many African and Asian countries have been pushing the United Nations for veto reform for many years.
The United Nations Security Council has five permanent members – the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom – known collectively as the P5. Any member of these 5 countries can veto a resolution passed by the United Nations. However, the Security Council elects 10 members, who serve two-year terms on the council, but are not given veto power.
