US-based semiconductor company Micron is setting up India’s first chip facility in Gujarat. This will create 5,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs in the coming years. The government in June had approved Micron’s project to set up a US$2.7 billion semiconductor testing and packaging facility in the country.
San Francisco. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO and President of Micron Technology in the US and discussed business opportunities in the growing semiconductor sector in India. The minister is currently in San Francisco to attend the ministerial meeting of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF).

Goyal wrote on social media platform ‘X’, “Met Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO and Chairman of Micron Technology.” It was discussed how India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem provides vast opportunities for the company to collaborate and expand its reach in the country.” The minister also met YouTube CEO Neil Mohan. Gayle said, “We discussed how India provides opportunities to enhance collaboration with YouTube and expand its reach in the country.”
