Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar on Thursday alleged that the Indian Supreme Court’s decision upholding the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution was politically motivated. Kakar also reaffirmed Pakistan’s moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir.
The Supreme Court of India on Monday unanimously upheld the central government’s decision to abrogate the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution that gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and revoked the statehood status of the Union Territory (Jammu and Kashmir). Instructions were also given to restore it as soon as possible and to hold assembly elections by September 30 next year.
Addressing a special session of the assembly of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Kakar said, “Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan. The word Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir. The people of Pakistan and Kashmir are uniquely bound together.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan said that despite political differences, the entire Pakistani leadership is united in support of the right to self-determination of Kashmiris. He said, “Jammu and Kashmir remains an important aspect of Pakistan’s foreign policy.
