IndiaTheNews Exclusive: Can Israel-Hamas ceasefire be the basis for ending this war?

This week in IndiaTheNews News Network’s special program Shaurya Path, we wanted to know from Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) that how do you see the ceasefire in Israel-Hamas war? On this he said that the four-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas has come into effect, due to which there will be an exchange of Palestinian prisoners and dozens of people held hostage in Gaza. He said that the implementation of the agreement is the first major diplomatic victory and has brought an end to the war that started after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. He said, however, that we should keep in mind that this announcement came amidst the comments of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he said, “The war will continue until all our goals are achieved.” He said that the Israeli Cabinet has approved Qatar , approved the agreement brokered by Egypt and the US by 35 votes to three. Party ministers, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir of the far-right Otzma Yehudit party, voted against it.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that under the agreement, there will be release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. Women and children were among those released by both sides. This agreement will also increase the supply of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Israel has released a list of 300 Palestinians who can be released under this agreement between Israel and Hamas. He said Israel’s Justice Ministry published a list of 300 prisoners eligible for release, mainly teenagers detained last year for stone throwing and other minor crimes. He said that only 150 prisoners are likely to be released in the first phase.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (retired) said that we should also see that in this war so far around 15 thousand people have been killed in Gaza and hundreds have been injured and lakhs of people have become homeless, hence this war is now over. Must stop.
