He said that there is no instance where any country has promoted extremism, terrorism or radicalism and it has not faced the consequences.

Brigadier Mr. DS Tripathi (Retd) said that as far as India’s stand on this issue is concerned, the Government has termed the activities of Khalistani elements in countries like Canada, Britain, America and incidents of inciting violence as ‘unacceptable’. Diplomats in other countries, the security of their mission is a top priority of the government and the host country is expected to ensure the security of embassies in accordance with the Vienna Convention. He told that Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in the weekly press conference, “Posters inciting violence against Indian diplomats, missions are unacceptable.” This is a serious issue and we have raised this issue with the countries concerned.” Arindam Bagchi has said that it is our expectation that no space should be given to terrorist, extremist elements in the name of freedom of expression. Bagchi has said that the issue of putting posters on diplomats, consulates, high commissions is very serious, in which incitement to violence, threats have been talked about.

Brigadier Mr. DS Tripathi (Retd) said that Bagchi has told that such issues have been discussed with Canada, Britain, America, Australia, immediate action has been reported from some places and it is expected that action will be taken in some places. A few days ago, India summoned the Canadian High Commissioner in New Delhi and issued a ‘demarche’ (objection letter) on the growing activities of Khalistan supporters in Canada. India is also understood to have asked Canadian authorities to take appropriate steps in the wake of protests by pro-Khalistan groups outside the Indian mission in Canada on June 8.

He said, “We want to know what action the countries have taken or what action is being taken because such incidents have happened in the past as well.” He said that Bagchi has said that we take such attacks or threats very seriously. We have taken and will continue to take whatever action is necessary. He said that our embassy is keeping an eye on such incidents and is in touch with the local administration. He said that the spokesperson has said that the host country is expected to ensure the security of the embassies in accordance with the Vienna Convention. India has also taken up with the US the issue of Khalistan supporters attack on the Indian Consulate in San Francisco. This is the second such attack on a diplomatic mission in San Francisco within a few months. On March 19, a group of pro-Khalistan protesters attacked and vandalized the Indian consulate in San Francisco. Khalistan supporters shared a video on Twitter on July 2, in which some people can be seen trying to set fire to the Indian Consulate in San Francisco. Last month, India warned Canada that it was not good for bilateral relations after visuals of a tableau being taken out in Brampton related to the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi surfaced on social media.
