Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) also said that questions are being raised on the role of the United Nations in the Israel-Hamas issue, hence the angry Israel has said that the tenure of UN Chief Antonio Guterres is a threat to world peace. In fact, Guterres used the special power to warn the Security Council about the impending humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and urged the Council to immediately seek a ceasefire on humanitarian grounds. In a letter to the 15 members of the UN Security Council, Guterres said Gaza’s humanitarian system is at risk of collapse after a two-month war that has caused terrible humanitarian suffering, destruction and collective trauma, he said. He noted that in referring to the protection of civilians from harm, Guterres used Article 99 of the UN Charter, which states that the Secretary-General may inform the UNSC about matters he considers prejudicial to international peace and Are a threat to security. He said that the UN Secretary-General said in his letter that the international community has the responsibility to use its influence to stop and end this crisis from worsening. After this, Israel said that this step of Guterres is tantamount to supporting the Hamas terrorist group and the cowardly acts committed by it in Israel on October 7. He said that Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said on the social media platform ‘X’ that Guterres’ tenure is a threat to world peace. He said that Cohen wrote that Guterres’ request to invoke Article 99 and call for a ceasefire in Gaza is an endorsement of the Hamas terrorist organization and its support for the killing of elders, kidnapping of children and rape of women. He said it is the first time that Guterres has invoked Article 99 of the charter since becoming UN Secretary-General in 2017.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that as far as the current situation is concerned, after the end of the ceasefire, the Israeli army is searching and killing Hamas terrorists in every street. He said that just as terrorists are hiding in sewers etc. in Gaza, Israeli forces have also made a special strategy to deal with them. He said that those who are feeling pain today after seeing the attacks taking place in Gaza, if they know about the cruel atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists on Israeli women, their blood will also boil. He said that Hamas terrorists are also not well-wishers of the people of Gaza because Israel has said that rocket attacks are being carried out from areas declared safe on humanitarian grounds. He said that if Israel bombed or attacked even those areas declared safe, there could be greater humanitarian devastation.
