The arrest of Imran Khan by paramilitary Rangers triggered massive protests across Pakistan, leading to the deployment of the army in Islamabad as well as in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Now Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Khan is calling Imran Khan and his party a ‘liar’ and accusing them of pushing the cash-starved country towards ‘destruction’.

He said that amid the chaotic situation in the country, the currency market as well as the Karachi stock market also saw a fall. The Pakistan Forex Exchange Association said that this is the first time that the Pakistani currency has crossed Rs 300 per dollar.
