Brigadier Mr. DS Tripathi (Retd) said that the way Wagner Group had shown eyes to its master Putin, a message was sent to the whole world that Putin has weakened for the first time in his nearly two and a half decade tenure. He said Putin had not forgotten how Russians vied to take selfies and shake hands with Yevgeny Prigozhin in Rostov. Seeing that scene, Putin understood that the public is appreciating the one who showed courage to show his eyes and challenge his rule. He said that it was not only that Prigozhin had been screwed by Putin, it was also that the way Wagner Group’s base had grown in many countries was causing difficulties for Russia. He said that now after the death of Prigozhin, the Wagner Group has once again become a completely mercenary military organization for Russia.

As far as the latest situation in the war is concerned, he said, in a major move, Russia has removed its air force chief because he failed to stop the attacks from Ukraine. Especially the way Ukraine is claiming to destroy Russia’s missile defense system in Crimea, if that news is true then it is a big blow for Russia. He said that only sporadic attacks on each other in the war are finding place in the news, but as soon as the American F-16 aircraft enter the battlefield, the nature of the war can change.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that considering the address given by Russian President Vladimir Putin in the recent BRICS conference, it seems that instead of accepting his mistake, he is blaming western countries for living in Donbas region in Ukraine. By accusing people of “waging war” against them, they are proving the saying that on the contrary, a thief scolds the policeman. He said that since the international court has issued an arrest warrant against Putin, he did not go to Johannesburg to attend the BRICS summit and addressed the summit in a digital way, in a way justifying the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
