In response, he said that the new turning point in the Russia-Ukraine war is that the Wagner Group’s role in the war has been eliminated. The Wagner Group has now been asked to focus on its Africa mission. Brigadier Mr. DS Tripathi (Retd) said that recently Putin had met the head of Wagner Group in Moscow, in which he was given clear instructions that he should now stay out of this war. Although many of his soldiers are kept in Belarus. It is believed that Putin will soon announce the name of the new head of this group who will lead the front in Ukraine on behalf of Russia. Prigozhin has been asked to focus on Africa as the Wagner Group has many business interests there.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (retd) said that apart from this, the manner in which Russia has disrupted the Black Sea grain deal has caused a wave of concern around the world, especially in poor countries. If seen, Russian President Vladimir Putin had approved this agreement so that the poor countries could get food grains, but since this agreement, 46 percent of the food grains went to the richest countries, while 27 percent of the grains went to the middle rich countries and only 26 percent of the grains went to the poor countries. That’s why Putin is saying that the terms of the agreement have been violated. Russia has announced it is suspending implementation of an agreement allowing the export of food and fertilizers through Ukrainian ports during the war.

Brigadier Mr. DS Tripathi (retd) said that United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed grief over Russia’s announcement that this initiative had ensured the safe movement of more than 32 million tonnes of food items through Ukrainian ports. Guterres has said that the Black Sea Initiative and the MoU on enabling the export of Russian food products and fertilizers have been a “lifeline” for global food security and a beacon of hope for a troubled world. As far as India’s stand on the issue is concerned, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ruchira Kamboj has said in the annual General Assembly debate on ‘Situation in the Provisional Occupied Territories of Ukraine’ that India is concerned about the recent developments in the region, which have not been conducive to achieving the larger objective of peace and stability.

Brigadier Shri DS Tripathi (Retd) said that India is concerned about the situation in Ukraine. Due to this conflict, many lives have been lost and many people, especially women, children and the elderly are suffering. Lakhs of people have become homeless and are forced to seek refuge in neighboring countries. He said that this war is going on but has also stopped because if Ukraine attacks once, then Russia attacks many times in response, but at the moment Russia is also attacking only when Ukraine attacks.
