Pakistan has claimed that it has attacked terrorist bases located in Sistan-Baluchistan, the south-eastern province of Iran. It is believed that this step of Pakistan may worsen the situation between the two countries. If seen, at present Pakistan is surrounded from many sides. On one hand Iran is killing him and on the other hand Afghan Taliban has created problems for him. Therefore, former Vice President of Afghanistan Amrullah Saleh has made fun of Pakistan and said that the banana republic is getting kicked from all sides. Meanwhile, seeing its friend Pakistan in trouble, China has appealed to all parties to maintain peace. But looking at Iran’s attitude it does not seem that it will sit quietly. Iran has decided that it will stay in Pakistan and eliminate the terrorists who are creating problems for it.

Talks took place between Pakistan and Iran before the attack

Let us also tell you that Pakistan’s claim of attack on Iran has been made at a time when talks were held between the foreign ministers of the two countries just a day before. According to reports, Pakistan Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani had told his Iranian counterpart that the attacks by Tehran have seriously damaged relations between the two countries. Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a statement on Wednesday night saying that Jilani had a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian and said that the January 16 attack by Iran inside Pakistani territory not only violates Islamabad’s sovereignty. It is also a serious violation of international law. It is also unfavorable for bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran. The Foreign Minister had also said that Pakistan has the right to retaliate against this provocative act. He stressed that terrorism is a common threat to the region and concerted and coordinated efforts are needed to deal with this threat. Jilani said unilateral action could seriously undermine regional peace and stability. “No country in the region should adopt this dangerous stance,” Jilani told his Iranian counterpart.

Iran’s response

Iran’s Foreign Minister has said that we attacked only targeting terrorists and not Pakistani citizens. He said that Iranian terrorists are finding shelter on the soil of Pakistan and are carrying out anti-Iran activities from there, which cannot be tolerated. He said that we do not tolerate at all the terrorists operating in the areas of Iraq and Pakistan who pose a threat to the security of Iran. He said that we respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan, but we will not let anyone compromise the security of Iran. Let us tell you that Iran has repeatedly said that the terrorist group Jaish-al-Adl is using Pakistan’s soil to attack its security forces and has its bases in the border city of Panjgur in Balochistan.

India’s response

As far as India’s reaction to Iranian action is concerned, let us also tell you that India has said that it understands the actions taken by countries in self-defense. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said this was a matter between Iran and Pakistan and stressed that India would not compromise on its “zero tolerance policy” towards terrorism. He reiterated, “This is a matter between Iran and Pakistan.” Responding to questions from media persons on the Iranian missile attack on Pakistan, the spokesperson said, “As far as India is concerned, our stand against terrorism is so far.” There has been a policy of ‘zero tolerance’. We understand the actions that countries take to protect themselves.

Pakistan’s claim

Saleh mocked Pakistan for “getting kicked from all sides” despite being a nuclear power. He recalled his “famous meeting” with former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and his “banana republic” comment.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani has said that any action against the rights of the Iranian people will definitely get a reaction and we respond strongly. He said that we do not recognize any boundaries when it comes to protecting our national interests. Speaking on Iran’s missile capabilities, he revealed various missiles with a range of less than 2000 km, including the Khibar class missile which is one of the most advanced missiles. It is a liquid-fuel missile with a 1,500 kg warhead with impressive strategic and tactical capabilities. Ashtiani also underlined Iran’s status as a global missile power with cruise and ballistic missiles, noting ongoing efforts to further advance missile technology.
