Over 500 miscreants of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party reached the Prime Minister’s residence in Model Town, Lahore and torched vehicles parked there. “They also hurled petrol bombs at the Prime Minister’s house,” said a senior Punjab Police officer. The police official said that only the watchman was present at the Prime Minister’s residence when the miscreants attacked. The miscreants also set a police post there on fire. Before reaching the prime minister’s residence, a mob of Imran Khan’s supporters attacked the ruling PML-N secretariat in Model Town and torched vehicles parked there. They also set the blockers there on fire.

Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the violent protests by Imran Khan’s supporters and warned of strict action against the protesters. Following the deadly violence during the demonstrations, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave a brief address to the nation. The Prime Minister said, “Attack on public property is an act of terrorism and enmity towards the country.” He said that those who take law into their hands will be dealt with strictly. “He will be punished in such a way that he sets an example,” he said.

Meanwhile, amid violent protests in Pakistan, a special court on Wednesday sent former prime minister Imran Khan to the remand of an anti-corruption agency for eight days, while a sessions court charged him in a separate corruption case. The office of the government-run Associated Press of Pakistan, located in the building, was also ransacked. In addition, in Islamabad, protesters clashed with police and traffic on the Srinagar highway connecting the national capital to its international airport was blocked for several hours. In Sindh province, the government had to impose section 144 to control the situation. Around 270 people were arrested.
