Inflation in March lowest in 10 months, relief for the public

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News)- Retail inflation has declined during March. Retail inflation declined to 4.85 percent in March from 5.09 percent in the previous month of February. It is at a 10-month low. Inflation based on Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 5.09 percent in February while it stood at 5.66 percent in March 2023. Earlier in October, 2023 it was 4.87 percent. This decline in retail inflation has been recorded due to food items becoming cheaper.
Similarly, on the basis of Index of Industrial Production (IIP), India’s industrial production recorded an annual increase of 5.7 percent in February 2024. The industrial growth rate in February last year was six percent. According to the monthly report released by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation on Friday, the growth in industrial production during the 11 months (April-February) of the financial year 2023-24 was 5.9 percent as compared to the same period a year earlier. In February 2024, the production growth in the mining sector was eight percent (8.2 percent in April-February 23-24), the manufacturing sector was 5 percent (April-February 5.4 percent), and the power generation was 7.5 percent (April-February 6.9). Percentage) increase was recorded. The index of industrial production (base year 2022-12) in the quick estimate for February 2024 stood at 147.2. The indices of industrial production for mining, manufacturing and power sectors for February 2024 stood at 139.6, 144.5 and 187.1 points respectively.
