London Breed, Mayor of San Francisco, California state of America, will depart for a visit to China on April 13. In an exclusive interview with Chinese news agency Xinhua ahead of her visit, she expressed hope that through this visit she would strengthen economic and cultural exchanges with China and promote the integration and development of bilateral relations.
Breed said this is her first official visit to China as mayor and she looks forward to building on the existing friendly cooperation between San Francisco and China. In November 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden successfully met in San Francisco. During this period, Breed attended a joint welcome banquet hosted by American friendship groups for President Xi Jinping.
Breed said San Francisco has always been a gateway between America and Asia, and the Chinese community in San Francisco has shaped the city’s history, culture and strength. San Francisco can provide a unique and important base for people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, and are keen to promote US-China friendship through humanities exchanges.
Breed also said that artificial intelligence is a huge industry in San Francisco, while China is also making steady progress in science and technology. He hopes that both sides can cooperate more.
