International Women’s Day is celebrated every year to promote women’s participation in every field and to make women aware of their rights. Clara Zetkin, a women’s rights activist, laid the foundation of International Women’s Day in 1910. She had suggested this at the International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. After which, in the year 1911, the first International Women’s Day was celebrated in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. On this day, women who have made important contributions in social, economic, cultural, political and many other fields are honored. The theme of the year 2024 is – ‘Inspire Inclusion’. This means a world where everyone gets equal rights and respect, which brings a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment. Women contribute as much as men to the development of family, society, country and the world. However, women do not get as much respect, opportunities and freedom as men. But in the process of building a new India – a strong India, women are making unprecedented contribution in nation building by crossing the four walls of the family.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken remarkable steps for the empowerment of women. Be it providing them gas cylinders through Ujjwala Yojana, construction of houses and toilets in villages or getting the Nari Shakti Vandan Act passed in the Parliament. Today all the countries of the world are accepting the fact that the women of India are progressing a lot under the leadership of Modi. From sports world to entertainment world and from politics to military and defence, women are playing a big role. The matter is not about Indian or non-Indian women, but about the attitude towards them. There is a need to change this attitude, there is a need to end the neglect and oppression of women all over the world. This day has significance only when women are not only made participants in development but also create such an environment that the atrocities and tragedies that destroy their existence and identity are stopped.

With the development of the nation since independence, Indian women have gained rights and opportunities to become equal partners in the progress and development of the nation. From personalities like Savitribai Phule, Kasturba Gandhi, Sarojini Naidu, Anandibai Gopalrao Joshi, Indira Gandhi to Indira Nooyi, Saina Nehwal, Tina Dabi, Savitri Jindal, women have shown their bravery and skills in all spheres of public and private life. In the new century, women in India, as free and independent individuals with their own unique identity, have brilliantly played the various roles assigned to them by the society as inseparable partners, nation-builders and developers. Now, like before, she is not completely occupied with the stove and the kitchen. She is now flying to new heights of faith in a new world for herself and all mankind. Women cannot be left behind in any way in the economic life of the nation. In the era of booming global economy, many women have proved themselves as successful entrepreneurs and businessmen in India becoming the third economic superpower of the world. Women have been active in politics for a long time. However, even then he was not allowed to lead. But India was the first country whose Prime Minister and President became a woman. Even America has not been able to elect any woman to the highest post of its country.

On Women’s Day, issues related to women like status of women, increasing incidents of female foeticide, increasing number of boys compared to girls, illiteracy and exploitation of women in villages, safety of women, incidents of rape of women, obscene A meaningful environment should be created by once again bringing the actions and especially the crimes committed against them into discussion. Despite events like Women’s Day, all government efforts and social public awareness, a pang arises in the mind that for how long will women remain an object of enjoyment? How long will his life remain surrounded by dangers? How long will she continue to be consumed by the burning fire of rape, molestation, feticide and dowry? For how long will his existence and identity continue to be violated? The irony is that events like Women’s Day are also becoming a medium for misusing women instead of giving them due respect and dignity. Women society has to develop their resistance power and practice living an awakened life. She has to understand her traditional importance and power, in the Vedic tradition women have been worshiped in the form of Durga, Saraswati, Lakshmi, Buddhist followers in the form of Chirantan Shakti Pragya and in Jainism women have been worshiped in the form of Shrutadevi and Shasandevi. According to popular belief, by worshiping the mother, a person gets age, fame, heaven, fame, virtue, strength, Lakshmi, livestock, happiness, wealth etc., then why is there contempt for women?

Women have the most glorious and respectable place in the world. Woman is the axis of the earth. Is a source of affection. There is a great temple of Mangalya. There are generations of the family. It is a message of purity. The security, coolness and peace that one feels under its affectionate shadow is not found even on the icebergs of the Himalayas. In ancient times, Indian women were given special respect. Countless Indian women like Sita, Sati-Savitri etc. have proved their special place. Apart from this, even during the British rule, women like Rani Lakshmibai, Chand Bibi etc., who rose above all their traditions etc., left their indelible mark on the pages of history. But with the change of time, it was seen that after many attacks on the country, the condition of Indian women also started changing. With the advent of British and Muslim rule, the condition of Indian women became extremely worrying. Day after day he had to face neglect and contempt. Along with this, the social evils that came into the Indian society like the practice of Sati, child marriage, purdah system, daughter-in-law marriage and our traditional conservatism also played an important role in making Indian women destitute and weak. But now that we have celebrated the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, women’s life should also become nectar in the Amrit Kaal, this can give real meaning to celebrating International Women’s Day.
