With the resolve to ensure women’s safety, respect and self-reliance, the efforts of the Yogi government of the state have started yielding positive results. Talking about self-reliance, according to the report of Periodic Labor Force Survey (PLFS), the state’s female labor force participation rate increased from 14.2 percent in 2017-18 to 32.10 percent in 2022-23. The report said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, dedicated efforts were made for the upliftment of women in the state, which has resulted in this increase. The Chief Minister’s personal supervision has created an environment where women feel safe and respected, propelling them towards self-reliance at an unprecedented pace. According to the report, India recorded a female labor force participation rate of 39.80 percent in the financial year 2022-23, while Uttar Pradesh recorded a rate of 32.10 percent. In contrast, in fiscal year 2017-18, India’s female labor force participation rate stood at 25.3 percent, while UP lagged far behind at 14.2 percent.

If we review the policies of Yogi government in the last 07 years, ‘women empowerment’ is clearly visible as the top priority of the government. Women are being made equal partners in the schemes started for employment. Today Mudra Yojana is encouraging new women entrepreneurs in every village, even from poor families. Under this scheme, about 70 percent of the total loans received in the entire country have been given to women. Women are also being connected to self-help groups and rural organizations across the country through Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana. By giving the responsibility of preparing supplementary nutritious food to the women of self-help groups, the Yogi government not only got rid of organized corruption, but also linked a large section of women with economic self-reliance. The amount of assistance given under the National Livelihood Mission in the last 5 years before 2014 has increased by almost 13 times in the last 7 years. Whereas earlier every self-help group could get an unsecured loan of up to Rs 10 lakh, now this limit has also been doubled i.e. Rs 20 lakh. Women self-help groups play an important role in 80 thousand ration shops in the state. Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, which organizes the rural poor into self-governing institutions with a focus on capacity building and creating diverse livelihood opportunities for rural poor women. The Mission has made successful progress through the Women Farmers Empowerment Project and has focused on the role of women as farmers. Moving from the phase of community mobilization and building of women’s institutions, the focus is now on involving SHG women in higher order economic activities through producer groups, FPOs and producer companies.

Yogi government’s policies for women’s safety are being appreciated across the country. The government worked to simplify the rules so that women can work in night shifts also. The government has removed whatever restrictions there were on women working in mines. It is historic to have opened the doors of Sainik Schools across the country to girls. Yogi government has set up 218 fast track courts in Uttar Pradesh for speedy trial of serious crimes like rape.

The amount of assistance received under the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which is run to provide educational opportunities to girls, has recently been increased from ₹ 15 thousand to ₹ 25 thousand. So far 18.66 lakh daughters have benefited from the scheme. Chief Minister’s Collective Scheme is run for the marriage of daughters of poor families. Under this, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities, Other Backward Classes as well as poor families of the general category can also apply. Widows and divorcees can also avail the benefits of the scheme. There is a provision of a total amount of ₹ 51 thousand for the marriage of a couple. Till now, marriages of 3.50 lakh couples have been solemnized under the scheme. Destitute women are given a pension of ₹ 1000 per month per beneficiary. At present 31.50 lakh destitute women are being given pension. This fund has been established to provide financial assistance to women/girls who are victims of heinous crimes. Under this, compensation money has been provided to 7,105 women/girls. To make women organized, empowered, self-reliant and self-reliant, more than 1 crore women from families in rural areas have been covered by forming 8.37 lakh self-help groups. Women self-help groups have been allotted 1,840 fair price shops under the public distribution system. The nutritious food distributed at Anganwadi centers is now being prepared by self-help groups. Yogi Government’s Banking Correspondent Sakhi Scheme has emerged as a model of financial inclusion. In order to encourage and benefit the villagers regarding public welfare schemes, B.C. Progress in Uttar Pradesh of major women welfare schemes run by the Government of India

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana: Free gas connections have been given to 1.75 crore families in the state. Free LPG cylinder is given during Holi and Diwali.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: With the pledge of ‘Housing for All’, this scheme has proved to be a boon for the eligible persons, especially women. So far, 55.83 lakh houses have been constructed in the state under the scheme. Most of these houses have been allotted in the name of Matrishakti.

P.M. Swanidhi Scheme: So far, loans have been distributed to 17 lakh street vendors in the state. In these, loans have been given to more than 2 lakh women, which has paved the way for their business and brought happiness in their lives.

Clean India Mission: So far 2.61 crore toilets (Izzatghar) have been constructed in the state. Apart from this, 4,500 pink toilets have been constructed in urban bodies.

Prime Minister Ownership Scheme (Gharauni): Under the scheme, ownership rights of their land are being given to those people of rural areas whose land is not registered in any government document. The ownership rights are being registered in the name of the female member of the family. Till now, ownership certificates have been provided to 66.59 lakh beneficiaries/women.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana: Under the scheme, so far 54.44 lakh pregnant and lactating mothers have been given financial assistance.

Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Scheme: Under the scheme, 1 crore 90 lakh women and girls were made aware.

Mission Vatsalya Yojana: In the state, 75,811 children were reunited with their parents/guardians and 1,436 potential child marriages were stopped.
