The White House on Tuesday expressed concern that Iran could provide ballistic missiles to Russia to help it in its war against Ukraine, which could be dangerous for the people of Ukraine.
An American national security officer gave this information. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Iran is already providing Russia with drones, targeted aerial bombs and ammunition and may be “looking to move forward in supporting Russia.”
Kirby referred to a meeting in September in which Iran hosted Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and demonstrated several ballistic missile systems. America had expressed concern over this.
“So we are concerned that Iran is potentially considering providing Russia with ballistic missiles that it could use against Ukraine,” Kirby said during a news conference.
“In return for this support, Russia can offer Iran unprecedented defense cooperation, including missiles, electronics and air defense,” he said.
Kirby’s warning came at a time when US President Joe Biden had requested to provide more than US $ 61 billion from the Emergency US Fund for Ukraine’s defense needs, but Congress has not yet approved it.
