Iran ready for ‘anti-terrorism’ cooperation with Pakistan

Tehran (Uttam Hindu News): A top Iranian military officer has said that Iran’s armed forces are ready for any kind of cooperation with Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. Chairman of the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Baqeri made the comments in a message to Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir while expressing concern over the deadly terrorist bombing at a religious gathering in Balochistan on Saturday. More than 50 people were killed in this explosion.
Bakeri expressed condolences to the army chief, armed forces, government and people of Pakistan and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the tragic incident, Xinhua news agency reported. The explosion occurred near a mosque during a religious gathering in Kora Khan area of Mastung district of the province on Friday.
According to police and health officials, at least 50 people died and more than 50 others were injured in the blast. Initial reports and police investigation suggested that it was a suicide attack. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
In a message addressed to his Pakistani counterpart Arif Alvi on Friday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi expressed condolences to the Pakistani government and people and condemned the “terrorist” bomb attack.
