Tehran (Uttam Hindu News): Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei recently stressed his country’s enduring policy of supporting Palestinian resistance forces against Israel in a meeting with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. Khamenei met with Hamas political bureau chief Haniyeh and his accompanying delegation in the Iranian capital Tehran, according to a statement published on the leader’s website on Sunday, without specifying the date of the meeting.
Khamenei praised the people of Gaza for their patience and resistance, and strongly condemned Israel’s crimes, which are being carried out with the direct support of the United States and some Western countries, Xinhua news agency reported. He also called on Muslim countries and the international community to take serious steps and provide comprehensive and practical support to the people of Gaza.
According to the statement, during the meeting, Haniyeh presented a report on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, as well as Israeli crimes against the coastal region. 9,770 Palestinians have died in Gaza due to the Israel-Hamas conflict that has been going on for almost a month. More than 1,400 Israelis lost their lives, most of them in a Hamas military operation on October 7, sparking the ongoing conflict.
