According to the information, till now the contract for cleaning of running trains, pantry car services, washing of bed sheets and blankets is given for 3 years to 5 years. Even after completion of this period, the tender is given again to the same company after collusion. But now this will not happen. A letter has been sent by the Railway Board to all zones including IRCTC, Northern Railway. It is written in the letter that the tenders to be held now will not be given for more than six months. A railway official told that preparations are being made by the Railway Board to centralize the tender for cleaning and linen washing. After this, the tender process will be done from the Railway Board instead of the division. However, the Railway Board is still thinking about the tender process.

NBT raised the issue of dirty sheets
The issue of soiled bed sheets and blankets being given inside the trains was raised by NBT. In the sting conducted by NBT in October 2022, it was revealed that unwashed bed sheets were being supplied in AC coaches. Railways suspended six employees after the sting. Also claimed to improve and be strict in the process of sheet washing.

According to the information, the passenger service contract policy is being brought to provide better facilities to the passengers. In the first phase, it will be started in 245 trains running from Delhi. After which it can be started from different divisions. Further tenders will be conducted under this policy. Along with this, the problem of dirt, bad food and dirty bed sheet will also be solved.
