The Israeli-Hamas war has already driven about 85 percent of Gaza’s 2.3 million people from their homes, flattening the northern part of the territory and raising fears of a similar fate for the south as Israel’s air and ground attacks have increased on Friday. Thousands of displaced Palestinians have flocked to Rafah, the already overwhelmed city at the southernmost tip of Gaza, in recent days, according to the United Nations. Warning sirens were heard in several towns in the northern Golan Heights, as the Israel Defense Forces confirmed they were hit by rockets launched from the Golan Heights. According to the Israeli military, both shells fell in open areas and Israeli forces were shelling the source of the fire.
The army also said it struck terrorist infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah and a launch site used by the Lebanese group, following several cross-border attacks early Saturday. The Israeli military has said it has carried out major airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon in recent days in hopes of pushing the terrorist group away from Israel’s northern border. Addressing a press conference, an Israeli military spokesman said that over the past two days we have carried out a series of comprehensive attacks by fighter jets, tanks and artillery on Hezbollah positions.
