Tel Aviv (Uttam Hindu News): The ongoing peace talks in Qatar’s capital Doha have been disrupted due to Israel’s refusal to accept Hamas’ demands. According to Israeli Defense Ministry sources, the Israeli delegation led by Mossad chief David Barnia told other mediators, including Qatar and Egypt, that they would not release Palestinian prisoners who face serious charges including murder.
Hamas had demanded the release of 350 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons for serious crimes, including murder. According to available information, the Israeli side has also said that it wants the release of its hostages in two phases, while Hamas had said that it will release the Israeli hostages in three phases.
Sources said Israeli negotiators want all male and female soldiers in Hamas custody to be released in the second phase. Due to Israel’s strictness, a crisis has arisen on the very first day of the talks.
