Tel Aviv: Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, who reached India on Tuesday, is now returning to the country, leaving his tour in the middle. He himself informed about this by tweeting. Cohen was in India to discuss new ways to expand bilateral ties. Also, his aim was to prepare the ground for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to India this year. The situation in Israel is currently very tense. Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen tweeted and informed about leaving his tour midway. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is going to visit India later this year. Netanyahu was invited by PM Modi to visit India in January.

Left after meeting PM Modi

He wrote, ‘I have just arrived in New Delhi, the capital of India, and as soon as I landed here, I was given the latest information about the security situation. In view of the developments in Israel, I have decided to cut short the duration of my diplomatic visit. I will return to my country immediately after meeting the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, which is to happen today itself. Cohen’s course was of three days but now he is returning after completing it in a single day.

Cohen was to hold talks with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar on strategic affairs and ties between the two countries, including trade. The Israeli Foreign Minister, however, attended the business forum organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Tuesday. He also had a program to go to Mumbai but now he has canceled all his programs.

The attacks have been going on since Tuesday.
On Tuesday itself, the Israeli army attacked the bases of the ‘Islamic Jihad’ organization in the Gaza Strip in the early hours. The situation has worsened since then. Information has been given by the Israeli army that three terrorists have been killed. On behalf of the terrorist organization, it has been said that three of its senior commanders and their family members have been killed in this attack. Witnesses said the explosion hit the top floor of an apartment in Gaza City and a house in the southern city of Rafah. The airstrikes continued in the early hours, targeting terrorist training sites. Israel says 13 Iran-backed terrorists have died in the attack.
