Tel Aviv: Israeli aircraft targeted a militant hideout in the Gaza Strip on Thursday. The action came hours after Palestinian militants fired a rocket south of Israel. Israel’s army gave this information. Israel’s military said the airstrikes targeted a ‘rocket manufacturing workshop (in Gaza-controlled territory)’ of the militant group Hamas. Raw chemical material was stored there. There was no immediate news of any casualty.
Earlier, Israel’s air defense system shot down a rocket fired from Gaza late on Wednesday, the army said. Gaza militants and Israel fired rockets and airstrikes last week after a military operation killed 10 Palestinians in the West Bank, again disrupting months of peace in the region.
Locals in Israel reported hearing explosions. According to Israel’s relief service, it has not received any reports of injuries other than a 50-year-old woman. The woman had slipped and fallen while going towards a shelter. This action was taken after Hamas threatened Israel over the aggressive stance of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Ben promised to take a tough stand against Palestinians held in Israel’s prisons.
