Jerusalem (Uttam Hindu News): The Israeli Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday said it struck Hezbollah targets in Lebanon in response to Israel’s shelling by the neighboring country.
“The Israeli Air Force yesterday (Monday) struck terrorist targets and military infrastructure of the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon in response to gunfire directed at Israel,” the Air Force said in a post on Twitter. He also posted a video of the attack.
The development comes just hours after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it was “striking Hezbollah terrorist targets in Lebanon”. Since the Hamas attack on October 7, there has been cross-border firing between Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israeli forces.
Hezbollah, which wields considerable power in Lebanon, has been designated a terrorist organization by the US, Britain and other countries. They are believed to have a more sophisticated arsenal than Hamas and are capable of hitting targets inside Israel, the BBC reports. Addressing parliament on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran and Hezbollah to stay away from the conflict.
