Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said on Thursday that India has given a concessional line of credit of $ 40 million for the development of sports infrastructure in Maldives. The facility has been provided as part of India’s effort to bring Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s flagship initiatives like “Fit India” and “Khelo India” under the ambit of its “neighbourhood first” policy. Jaishankar inaugurated a community project at Shaviani Fokaidhu. He was accompanied by Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid.
Jaishankar was on a visit to the Maldives to further expand bilateral ties with India’s key maritime neighbour. Sports infrastructure will be developed in the islands through a dedicated concessional $40 million line of credit, Jaishankar said. Whom the Prime Minister is promoting. The community center at Shaviani Phokaidhu is part of 45 projects that India is building in partnership with the Maldivian government. Of these, 23 projects have been completed.
