Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday visited Lord Shiva and offered prayers at the famous Pashupatinath temple in Nepal. Jaishankar reached Nepal on Thursday on his first visit abroad in 2024.

He visited Pashupatinath temple early in the morning before starting his programs in the country on the second day of the visit. Pashupatinath, located on the banks of the sacred Bagmati River on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu, is the most famous Hindu temple in Nepal.

Thousands of Hindu devotees from all over the world come to visit this temple. This centuries-old temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva who resides here in his incarnation as Pashupati, the protector of animals.
