Tokyo. A woman and her parents have been arrested after a man’s headless body was found in a hotel room in the northern Japanese city of Sapporo three weeks ago. Japan police gave this information. Hokkaido police on Japan’s northern main island said Tuesday they had arrested Runa Tamura, 29, and her psychiatrist father, Osamu Tamura, 59, on suspicion of plotting to behead a victim in a hotel room on the intervening night of July 1 to July 2 and transporting the decapitated head the day before. The head of the victim, Hitoshi Ura (62), has been missing ever since.
Police raided the suspects’ home on Tuesday and arrested the main suspect’s mother, Hiroko Tamura, 60, a part-time worker, on suspicion of conspiring with her family to smuggle the head into the house. The police did not say how the daughter and father together carried out the incident. Police are still probing the motive for their act and did not say whether the woman and the victim knew each other. The police also took cognizance that there is a possibility that Runa is a mental patient. Media reports quoted neighbors as saying that she had difficulty attending school and was reclusive since childhood.

None of his belongings were left in the room and the bed also looked like it had not been used by anyone.
