Jio has set up 99,897 BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) in 700 MHz and 3,500 MHz bands, according to the daily status report released on the National EMF Portal of the Department of Telecom.
The country’s leading telecom company Reliance Jio has set up around one lakh telecom towers across the country with the aim of building the fastest and widest 5G telecom network to provide ultra-high-speed internet service. According to the latest data from the Department of Telecom, Jio is almost five times ahead of the second ranked company in terms of setting up telecom towers. Jio has set up 99,897 BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) in 700 MHz and 3,500 MHz bands, according to the daily status report released on the National EMF Portal of the Department of Telecom.
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel, which is in second place, has installed a total of 22,219 BTS. As on Thursday, Jio has three cell units for each base station while Airtel has two cell units. Internet speed remains high due to having more towers and cell units. According to a report by Ookla released on February 28, Jio’s Internet speed was clocked at 506 megabits per second (Mbps), while Airtel came second with a maximum speed of 268 Mbps.
