New Delhi, 10 December (Hindustan Reporter). Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the proposed new terminal building at Rajahmundry airport in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of Rs 350 crore.
The Civil Aviation Minister has laid the foundation stone of the proposed new terminal at Rajahmundry Airport at a cost of Rs 350 crore, the Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement. This terminal is going to be built in an area of about 17,029 square meters. It will be 400 times larger than the current terminal building and will facilitate a capacity of 2,100 passengers per day during peak hours. Its annual capacity will be 30 lakh passengers.
Addressing the gathering organized on the occasion, Jyotiraditya said that Andhra Pradesh is a culturally rich state with traditional festivals, arts and handicrafts. He said that the expansion of Rajahmundry Airport will preserve and promote this heritage. Scindia said that the new terminal will be four times bigger than the existing terminal. It will be equipped with many eco-friendly technologies.
Addressing the gathering present at the programme, Scindia said that the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working not for incremental development but for big changes. He assured that after the development of this new terminal building, if there is demand, the Central Government will also set up a new cargo terminal.
