Hyderabad. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia launched the online GMR School of Aviation, established in collaboration with Airbus, on the occasion of Wings India-2024 organized here on Thursday. GMR School of Aviation, located within the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park here at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, is set to epitomize excellence in aircraft maintenance engineering, GMR said in a statement.

The school will offer a fully integrated four-year AME (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering) program along with training. It has received certification from regulators Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The school has a technical tie-up with Airbus. It is the first institute of its kind in India to offer specific types of training courses related to aircraft and supporting courses like aircraft structure along with Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licensing Programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Gopinath, Chairman, GMR Aero Technic, said, “GMR School of Aviation is the first of its kind in the region. It will be a global standard and center of excellence in the field of aviation education. “The MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) industry is expected to exceed $2.4 billion by 2028,” he said. This school will prove to be a game changer for this industry. It will skill the students aspiring for a successful career and prepare them for the future of the emerging aviation industry globally.
