James Cleverly said in a statement that violence towards staff at the Indian High Commission in London is unacceptable and I have made my position clear to High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswamy. The police investigation is ongoing and we are in close contact with the High Commission of India in London and the Government of India in Delhi.

He further noted that the UK is working with the Metropolitan Police to review security at the Indian High Commission and will make necessary changes to ensure the safety of its staff, as we did for today’s demonstration. “We will always take the security of the High Commission and all foreign missions in the UK very seriously and will prevent and respond strongly to such incidents,” he said.
