Around 2,000 protesters gathered outside the Indian High Commission on Wednesday for a planned demonstration waving Khalistan flags. The Indian High Commission responded to the protesters by hoisting an additional tricolor on the roof of its building, which further enraged the protesters and threw some objects and water bottles at police officers and media persons. At this, Scotland Yard extended the blockade outside the Indian High Commission and immediately deployed additional officers, many of whom were on horseback.

On Wednesday, the police had made more stringent security arrangements to stop the protesters. Protesters, including turbaned men and some women and children, were brought in the bus from different parts of the UK and raised pro-Khalistan slogans. The protesters used a mike to make anti-India speeches and target the Punjab Police for alleged human rights violations.
Banners circulating on social media
Banners calling for so-called national demonstrations by groups such as the Federation of Sikh Organizations (FSO) and the Sikh Youth Jathebandiya have been circulating on social media even before Sunday’s violent protest outside India House. The Government of India had strongly protested against the lack of security arrangements outside its diplomatic mission. During the protest, pro-Khalistan flags were waved and the windows of the mission were broken and an attempt was made to bring down the tricolor.
