Bogota (Best Hindu News): At least six people were killed and 11 others went missing after a landslide damaged several homes in Colombia late Monday night. Local media gave this information on Tuesday. Local media reports quoted Camilo Parrado, the mayor of Quetem in the Cundinamarca department, as saying, “At least 15 houses collapsed in the landslide. We have already recovered six bodies, seven people have been injured and 11 are missing.” He said it was a very difficult situation and a child was also among the dead.
Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, saying there was an urgent need to act to prevent such natural disasters after heavy rains. “Mayors should prioritize this principle,” he said in the Belgian capital, Brussels. The landslide also destroyed a toll bridge, completely closing the Llano road connecting the capital Bogota to the city of Villavicencio.
