Biden said that when I was in Israel yesterday, I said that when America experienced the hell of 9/11, we also got angry. When we sought and received justice, we made mistakes. The US President made the comments while delivering a prime-time address to the nation, about 20 hours after returning from a trip to Israel. He emphasized America’s alliances and American values and said that all of these would be in danger if we turn our backs on Israel.
His appeal for more aid comes as Israel prepares for a ground attack on Gaza. Biden made an eight-hour visit to Israel where he had limited success in signing a deal to get aid into Gaza. He said Israel and Egypt had agreed that 20 trucks with relief supplies could enter the enclave. So far 3,859 people have been killed in Gaza in Israel’s retaliatory attack against the surprise attack by the Hamas group on October 7. At least 1,400 Israelis have been killed in Hamas attacks.
