Maharaja Charles would love to go to India on a state visit: Bilimoria

London. Renowned Indian-origin businessman Lord Karan Bilimoria said that Britain’s King Charles III wants to go on a state visit to India and it should be planned soon. UK-based businessman and founder of ‘Cobra Beer’ Bilimoria is of the view that the state visit of King Charles III will give a fillip to bilateral ties and give further momentum to the ongoing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks. Lord Bilimoria told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “I told Maharaja Charles III that we should have a state visit to India as it will have a profound impact on bilateral relations and will also accelerate India-UK FTA negotiations.” He said, “We know that the Maharaja is a friend of India and has a deep affection for India. He said he would love to go to India on a state visit and we should plan it soon.

Earlier, Maharaja Charles III had visited India in November 2019. At that time he was the Prince of Wales and celebrated his 71st birthday in Mumbai. Billimoria favors stronger ties between India and the UK and helped create the UK India Industry Task Force last year. He also believes that the visit of Rishi Sunak, the first Prime Minister of Indian origin in Britain to India will also help in deepening the ties between the two countries.
