Major terrorist attack in Pakistan’s Balochistan, 15 people died; 9 terrorists killed in firing

karachi (Uttam Hindu News): Heavily armed terrorists carried out three coordinated attacks in Pakistan’s restive Balochistan province, in which 15 people have been reported dead. During this, firing started, in which nine terrorists were killed. Giving this information, officials said that out of the three attacks, one attack was also carried out on a high security jail. He said that these attacks took place on Monday in Mach city, about 70 kilometers from the provincial capital Quetta.

A press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday night said that on the night of 29 and 30 January, several terrorists, including suicide bombers, attacked the Mach and Kolpur complexes in Balochistan. According to the release, the attacks were responded to effectively by law enforcement agencies. During this firing, nine terrorists were killed and three were injured who were caught by the security forces. The terrorists tried to enter the high security central Machh jail, which houses some dangerous terrorists and prisoners who have been sentenced to death.

ISPR confirmed the killing of four security personnel and two civilians since Monday night. The release said that security forces have been immediately deployed in the surrounding area and are conducting operations to nab the terrorists. “Nine terrorists, including three suicide bombers, have been killed while three have been injured,” the statement said. A senior police officer had earlier said that at least 15 rockets were fired at the central Mach jail.

Banned separatist group ‘Balochistan Liberation Army’ (BLA), Majeed Group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Following the attacks, several hours of heavy gunfire took place between security forces and the attackers trying to retreat into the mountains. Balochistan’s acting Information Minister Jan Achakzai said the final evacuation operation in Maach was still going on. Achakzai said on the social media platform ‘X’, “The situation in the area is under control.” Monday night’s attack on security forces is the deadliest attack by terrorists this year. At least 14 soldiers were killed in an ambush by militants in the port city of Gwadar in November last year.

The attack was an apparent retaliation for Pakistani attacks on what the country described as rebel bases in Iran in early January. The BLA had threatened to launch attacks on security forces in Balochistan and elsewhere following Pakistan’s attacks on their camps in Iran on January 18. At least nine people were killed in attacks on BLA camps in Iran. These attacks were carried out in response to the Iranian attack in Pakistan.
