Make in India has done wonders… Putin wants to implement this mega plan of India in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that his ‘Make in India’ initiative has had a really impressive impact on the Indian economy. Putin was speaking at a forum organized by Russia’s Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) in Moscow, Russian television network RT reported. The report said that Vladimir Putin cited India as an example of a country that encourages companies to develop, manufacture and assemble products locally.

The Russian President said that our friend in India and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi had started the ‘Make in India’ initiative many years ago. It has really had a powerful impact on the Indian economy. There will be no harm in imitating the one who is doing good work, even if it is not us who do it but our friends. Citing India’s example to encourage domestic products and brands in Russia, Vladimir Putin said Moscow needs to provide support tools to help our companies market their products more efficiently.

He appreciated India’s initiative to develop local manufacturing capabilities and create an effective model to woo foreign investors. Putin stressed the need to think about “making our products more convenient and functional, with a modern look and properties.” Industrial and product design should become an important resource for the development of domestic business, RT quoted him as saying. As a part of India’s renewed focus on manufacturing, the global ‘Make in India’ initiative was launched in September 2014. The initiative aims to promote India as the most preferred global manufacturing destination .
