Manipur extortion case, NIA files chargesheet under UAPA against three including a Myanmar national

The chargesheet was filed in the NIA Special Court, Imphal against three cadres of banned terrorist organisations, People’s Revolutionary Army, KCP (Kangleipak Communist Party), PREPAK (People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak) and UNLF (United National Liberation Front).
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a charge sheet against three people, including a Myanmar national, under the UAPA in a case of alleged extortion by members of banned terrorist organizations in Manipur. According to the agency, the investigation found that the accused was allegedly raising funds for terrorist organizations including People’s Revolutionary Army, Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and United National Liberation Front (UNLF).
The charge sheet was filed in the NIA Special Court, Imphal against three cadres of banned terrorist organisations, People’s Revolutionary Army, KCP (Kangleipak Communist Party), PREPAK (People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak) and UNLF (United National Liberation Front). Identification of the accused Deepak Sharma (38) alias Khinmaung of Myanmar, Suraj Jasiwal (33) of Manipur and Shekhom Bruce Meetei (38) of Manipur have been charged under the UA(P)A Act 1967 and Deepak has been additionally charged under the Foreigners Act, 1946.
The accused was raising funds with the intention of furthering the activities of these terrorist organisations. Investigation so far has revealed that cadres of banned organizations were making extortion calls to people in Imphal and Valley areas to raise funds for their organizations.
