Imran Khan was quoted as saying that those who want to see martial law are not loyal to the country. Earlier on Monday, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had said that the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition would not accept the Supreme Court’s decision.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan hit out at Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his remarks on martial law, saying such people are not loyal to the country. The News International quoted Khan as saying that those who want to see martial law are not loyal to the country. Earlier on Monday, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had said that the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition would not accept the Supreme Court’s decision, which fixed May 14 as the date for elections in Punjab provinces.
According to a report in The News International, he sought constitution of a full court bench on the matter, saying that if it is not constituted, it could lead to martial law or an emergency-like situation in the country. Imran Khan claimed that the ruling coalition is running a propaganda against the families of Supreme Court judges after the verdict. He said that the rule of law is established in the country.
Cricketer-turned-politician Imran is facing corruption charges in the Toshakhana case. He is on target for buying gifts, including an expensive Graff wristwatch received as a premiere at a discounted price from a government depository called Toshakhana, and selling them for profit. Imran Khan was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in October last year for not sharing details of the sale. The election body later lodged a complaint with the district court to punish him under criminal laws for selling gifts received as the Prime Minister of the country.
